PURE SENSATION

She can't think.  She made the rule.  She's spent a 
lifetime overanalyzing and critiquing and categorizing and 
ended up alone in space, circling through rationalizations 
and desires and feeling more alone than she has ever been.  

He made her laugh out loud, and his lips are hot on her 
throat and his hands are burning through her dress.  The 
shadows of her bedroom are warm and welcoming and she feels 
the world has opened up and she's remembering golden hearth 
fires and falling asleep in her mother's lap and the first 
kiss on high school gym night.

She doesn't know if she loves him.  She's starting to think 
she doesn't know what love is and maybe love and reality 
are two different things.  Reality is the heat of kinetic 
energy in the shoulders beneath her fingers and the 
electric ripple down her spine as his mouth teases her 
breasts and she moans with a need too deep for her to 
comprehend.

She threads her fingers through his hair and lets the 
bittersweet ache build between her thighs as she closes her 
eyes and drinks from his mouth.  Tonight she will be alive.  
Tonight she won't think.

She made the rule.
